The Galaxy News Report | December 2024
2024 is wrapping up and let's reflect on our year so far;
The year kicked off like the previous, with a new Guy and Guys film, this time focused on the more meta scenario of a "threequel". The film was met with mostly positive feedback and joy over the cameos throughout. Along with a brand new film, this very website was released shortly.
In the same month, "Kizlatio in Australia" was announced and began production, in a passionate and productive manner.
In March, we officially acquired Kolbi Benson's 25K Studios for our website, which came with "Bad Cop" and "Time Loop" available for streaming. "Lucky Larry" soon followed.
Our first documentary was premiered in March; "How to Movies", a three-part series displaying the many aspects of filmmaking, hosted by Ashtan Hase. At this time, we also celebrated our fifth anniversary with a video and social media rebrand that lasted months.
We held a poll in April, asking which projects were fan-favourites in our community, and to little surprise, award-winning film "The Fields" won the ranking, with "The Red Ring" being a close runner-up. this was to give us insight into what the fans wanted to see.
In May, various crew members found themselves with casts on their forearms, in unrelated circumstances, delaying "The Space Lamp Chronicles: Chapter 2" production for further weeks.
In July, "The Red Ring" ended its exclusively DVD-available era and landed in the docile of our website, along with anticipated "The Red Ring: Part II", which premiered two days after. During July, production for "Man." commenced.
July was an unusually productive month, showing us "Evil Peanut Butter" - a creative prequel to a Benson fan-favourite, the Space Lamp 2 and "Man." trailers releasing, and Talent of the Month beginning to take fan input in an official poll.
In August, Man. was delayed due to facility floods, and the first article was released.
In September, the Galaxy Studios team (consisting of Ashtan Hase, Chase A. Coustley, Kolbi Benson, Zac Deren, Max Bourke, and others) registered to be apart of the Geelong Waterfront Film 48-Hour Film Frenzy, where they would work together to write, shoot, and edit a 4-7 minute long film following a certain criteria in 48 hours. This ultimately got delayed to December.
In October, Kizlatio in Australia was paused in production, due to a lack in productivity. This does not mean it is cancelled. However, any release dates or announcements of the show have been removed from the website.
The 15-Word Film Festival finally took place in October, premiering both "Man.", an original, and "Delirium", the award-winner acquired by Galaxy Studios after the event.
For Halloween, the Hasefilme Pictures crew (Ash Hase and Jack Theilemann) secretly produced and released a found-footage style horror film called "The Last Echo" and included the first f-bombs in Galaxy Studios history.
We also added a "Play" section to the website, where people can interact with the media we produce physically.
When November came around, Galaxy Studios was both excited and thrilled. It began with a kick, Man. officially arriving on the website. during the month, the team was also well anticipating productivity in light of the upcoming "Battle of the Films" film festival, hosted by Grace Acting Studios. In previous years, films like "The Space Lamp Chronicles" and "The Fields" had come out of this festival, and we couldn't wait for more films from the same event. Ultimately, everyone was blown away by the sheer quality and quantity of films produced.
Awards from this festival won by Galaxy Studios included three - Best Film (The Lights Amidst the Shadows - Ashtan Hase), Best Concept (Remember - Kolbi Benson) and Best Actor in Class (Wednesday junior teens- Kolbi Benson). Along with the two films mentioned, "The Limits of Motivation" (Chase A. Coustley & Zac Deren) was also nominated, and many other films from other crew members and co. were displayed at the event. To see more on this event, see this article.
Looking into December, we anticipate mostly positivity and productivity. On the 9th, our crew will be attending the 48 Hour Film Frenzy premiere screening/award night, viewing the first wave of films. On the 11th, screening is open to the public. (To buy tickets, see this link.) The film is called "Newton's Third Law", a seven-minute holiday dramedy about a boy, Nico (Max Bourke), who gets stuck in a sandwich-initiated time loop on Christmas Day. His brother Joseph (Zac Deren) has to observe, not knowing of the loop itself.
The film takes a dramatic twist and is an enjoyable watch, so definitely check it out when it hits streaming soon. Many projects are underway, such as Space Lamp 2, previously mentioned, and "Guy and Guys 4: Undead". This was teased on Instagram and Discord, but never officially announced until now.
Next year will be very exciting and full of good productivity and releases.
Enjoy the holiday season, and soon we'll be warmly welcoming 2025!
